B.J. Hilton Hitchcock

B.J. Hilton Hitchcock was born in Pensacola, Florida. She was raised in Knoxville, Tennessee with her four brothers. She lives in Maryville, Tennessee with her husband. They have two grown children, a son and a daughter. BJ graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, with a degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. She was employed as a teacher for many years.
BJ began painting as a preteen. Her first paintings were watercolors. She was greatly influenced by her Junior High Art teacher, Bill Lett. During her college days, she did some drawing and sculpting. She took several art education classes at the University of Tennessee. BJ expanded her interests into acrylics and oils in recent years. She has taken classes with Mary Harris, Dianna Kilgore, and Betty Fortenberry. BJ enjoys staying current with the latest art materials and techniques by attending various workshops and seminars every year.
BJ teaches craft and art classes at a local Senior Center and paints. She has done many art and craft shows in the Knoxville area. BJ enjoys painting in watercolor, oil and acrylics and stays busy with crafts of all varieties. BJ is a member of the Blount County Arts and Crafts Guild in Maryville, Tennessee.
